PROFESSOR TRISTAN YAN

Professor Tristan Yan is Head of the Robotic and Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery Programs at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Sydney Adventist Hospital, and Head of the Thoracic Surgery Department at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse. He is internationally recognised for his expertise in Minimal Access Aortic Surgery and the surgical management of primary lung cancer, major sarcomas, pulmonary metastases and malignant pleural mesothelioma.
A Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Sydney and Professor of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Macquarie University, Professor Yan also serves as a Visiting Professor of Cardiac Surgery at St Bartholomew's Heart Centre in London, Europe's largest cardiac centre. He lectures internationally and operates out of the UK and Southeast Asia.
Alongside his clinical practice, Professor Yan is an internationally recognised researcher, having authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Annals of Cardiothoracic Surgery and leads several international collaborative research initiatives through his Collaborative Research (CORE) Group.
His research collaborations include the Aortic ARCH Projects—the world's largest multinational aortic research collaboration—comprising more than 14,000 patients across 37 leading aortic centres in 11 countries, as well as the VATS Lobectomy Consensus Group, which brings together 50 internationally recognised experts in minimally invasive thoracic surgery.
